Once I received news of a zombie outbreak, I would begin to contact those people that I know would be able to adequately prepare for such a thing. I would take my wife and (uninfected) friends and we would stockpile weapons, ammunition and food at a predetermined location.

After that it would be a simple matter of holding out against the zombie hordes from a well-defended base of operations. After successfully clearing an area of zombies we would search for supplies and possibly expand our base so that we could begin cleansing the plague. Knowing me, I'd prefer to be the one in charge of rocket strikes.
