Undeground-a-go-go.Submitted by Gunnzzilla on Wed, 02/25/2009 - 16:20 |
Well the basis for my plan is an underground(12 feet underground)tunnel system that myself and a couple of my friends at church know about. We have blocked off(via concrete and brick) all but two exits/entrances. I say that because they are the only way in/out. In the middle of this tunnel system(which is more or less a Bomb shelter) we have gathered non-perishable and alot of water(stored in purified 10-gallon containers. We each have something that we can use at long range(firearm(s))and a close combat(trench knifes, pipe wrenches, ect.) that we have stored down there. We have a solar panel(1), but its not hooked up yet. We also have a gas powered generator and a niftey hand powered radio/generator. We have a phone tree which we start at first sign of infestation. Our basic plan is to Stay down, keep quiet, and survive until around a month later. After a month we will start setting up a "safe zone" in which we will continually expand daily. This is basically a wall of razorwire hooked up to car batteries(both, also in storage)set on a toggle switch as to allow us to both exit and conserve energy when we dnot need it. we will do supply raids(hence the waiting a month or so) to replinesh our stock and can(but not likely) add other survivors to our crew. as we expand the "safe zone" we will have more area to work with, allowing us to live up top and block off the one remaining exit/entrance. This will allow us to fall back to the tunnels for a last resort(should we become overrun). As we do this we plan to use both CB and satellite radio to locate other people. The people we find to "less then desired" who try to join us(Raiders, baiters, and thieves) we will use as bait to kill more Zombies. =D. Eventually the population will establish a "real" safe zone in which the combined efforts of many groups come together to make a rag-tag military base.in which my group and i will willingly participate.
In the end our basic plan is to let things simmer down before we start, allowing us to "Cut" the competition for supplies. Then to set up a viable perimeter and defend it as we expand. Eventually come into contact with other groups and then help humanity survive.
Also, the sign myself and others have decided on using for a friendly(relitive term) camp is a Rebel flag flying upside down. So if you see that, it is a "safe zone.
Good plan. me and my friends have found a similar bomb shelter in east texas near where we live, but only one door, we have talked about going there in the event of a zompocalypse. But in know way have we prepared it like you have. I am mainly preparing with fire power, I just got a pistol-grip shotgun for graduation haha. really sweet gun if there ever was a zompocalypse. anyway great plan.
well i like the plan its ok but the though of being under ground is likw you puting yourself in a box its allmost like i self inposed trap i(me) would only go underground as a last resort but its your plan and i wont be there so what ever makes you feel safe
normally, i would look down upon going underground, however, the way its set up actually makes it seem somewhat sound. not bad!
my plan is pretty much the opposite, i end up living in a tree XD Just so you know! rather good plan, but will a zombie care about being shredded by razor wire?
Great method for expanding, few limitations after you get aboveground.
Also, my dad used to be an electrician and keeping him alive and helping is a major part of my survival plan. If you could build a small capacitor you could keep the power from your solar panel for a MUCH longer time. Look into it.

This was a great plan. It's fairly short and packs a lot of information into it. When you said underground i thought not a good idea. But I guess you already thought of that because you said "we blocked all but two exits/entrances". i think it's awesome that you have solar panel. Where did you get and how much did it cost.
my church got four or five units(both the panel and the battery that goes with it) off the internet for earth day; i bought one off of my pastor for 150. The only thing i dnot like about it is that it has a really low shelf life for the battery. Like: you can charge it for 12 hours and get around 4 hours of electricity, but if you dnot use it right away, the stupid thing loses its charge.
I like your plan, very well thought out. one thing: In What time is it going to take to build your "safe zone"? It seems to me, you need way more man power to build that safe of a structure in such a short time.

NICE :)
super nice
