Three Step SurvivalSubmitted by Freedman67 on Fri, 04/17/2009 - 03:41 |
There are three parts to a zombie apocalypse. Part one, The Alarm this is the point in time where the screams fill the air, the first 100 infected vastly spread and take over a large area, then comes part two, The resistance at this time the few who have prepared or how the knowledge to survive this will gather together or arm themselves individually to survive and finally part three, The Reaction at this time humanity will make its return and things shall hopefully return to the way they were before.
This plan is to allow the average family of two to four to survive on their home made supplies
Considering most towns now adays are either built around some kind of body of water or some kind of resource you should not run out of food or water if you know what you are doing. Your two most important concerns are staying alive and staying safe. At all times have some sort of weapon in reach, this applys to non infection times as well, with constant preporation on your side the split second you hear the unmistakable moan of a zombie attacker at your door step you can raise your weapon, make the call to your team and start packing right away. A common weapon of my choice is a Fire Extinguisher, they seem to be in abundant supply, have a well made handle for swinging as a bludgedon and if not broken can also be served for putting out fires. Your clothes just as Max Brooks suggests should be tight and reliable, do not go around in a mini skirt or wedding gown unless no alternative are available. (Haha) Next comes your safety, in many towns there is one place that seems to be the easiest to protect or hide in, this may be your best bet for survival if you are firmiliar with it, if not a home is a great alternative to any situation, so long as your home has strong walls and somewhere to hide.
Now we have covered just about all the situation we should clear up what to do if your home is destroyed or you cannot carry what you require with you. A home burning down to a pile of rubble can be a sad event but dwelling on the past will not save your life or your friends and families. Move on. if your supplies are lost, find a bag, your weapon and anything else you can carry, be on your way for other survivors or someplace that can at least bring temporary safety till you know for a fact that a place is safer. Under no circumstances should you let emotions for the dead get in your way. A dead father or mother is yes terrible but if you care for them running into a crowd of the godless monsters is no way to avenge them...End the remainder of this corpses life. Give it a proper burial later perhaps but do not think the power of love will bring them back. This is false knowledge. Well now you have your clothes, your weapon and hopefully your team and supplies, all that is left to wait, hunt or defend till your safety is brought back. A corpse decomposition will take around half to two decades, two decades will be if the corpses freeze in the colder months.
I'd like to thank Max Brooks for writing the book that will hopefully save my life. He is a great in literature and the human brain.
