Ok, assume that you aren't just running away from zombies. You're also doing your duty as good citizens and killing those demon spawn. What is your plan for ambushing zombies/setting traps. Personally, I like piano wire. It's easy to come by, very portable, easy to set up, and has a good chance of decapitating a couple of those flesh-munchers. What's your plan? Explosives set in a remote building? Zombie bait and gun power? Or just running away?

Piano wire would ony work if they (or it) were moving fast enough. I always like Pungee pits or other pit falls, as it puts them somewhere where they're no danger to you.
Max Brooks (all glory to him) suggests that you can use live bait (such as caged cats or dogs), but it's a case of ethics, and you'd need to keep upwind.
Personally I'd follow the Celtic hill fort defense system, a big hill, lots of trenches and hillocks, and a tower on the top with some guns.

i think the bait is the best way to go.
but explosives arent too bad either, such as in dawn of the dead. that huge parking lot had hundreds, possibly thousands of zombies. if they would have had a bomb of some kind...... that gunstore guy would still be alive (RIP)
