My zombie plan... (edited 8-20-10)Submitted by Swifty3582 on Thu, 08/19/2010 - 00:28 |
When I figure out there has been a zombie outbreak I will:
Day 0-3: Gather weapons, supplies, get to first location;
- .22 long rifle, 3, 25 round mags, and huge box of ammo.
- .243 hunting rifle, box of ammo.
- .22 revolver, same ammo as long rifle.
- 308 hunting rifle, box of ammo.
- hunting knife, (5 in blade)
- kithen knife, (9 in blade)
- aluminum baseball bat.
- all canned food, nuts, water in house/could fill/get
- blankets, pillows, ect.
- hygene things (toothbrush, soap, glasses, ect)
- paper/pens, radio, ipod, cd players.
- Backpack for majority of supplies if fits, weapons on self)
Go to shop (big pole building with loft) take enough supplies for 2 days upstairs, put rest in pickup. Call friends/ family, see who wants to help me survive, hopefully 2 or 3 will help, if not, go it alone, but still going to same permanent location.
Days 3-7: Move to second (permanent-ish) location;
- gather gear, friends, drive 5-10 mins to buiding previously sited for permanent location. ( a 4 year old office- type building with 7 foot chain- link fence and barbed wire, few windows and doors on bottom floor, few on top, semi-flat roof, houses about 3 min walk for supplies)
- Start setting up supplies, barricades. everything upstairs, barricade doors, windows, block doors with furniture.
- Set up defensive postions, chores, jobs to do, escape routes, what to do if surrounded, ect.
End week 1- weeks 3 or 4;
-Keep watch at all times, if zombie reaches fence, kill, if zombie shows no interest, leave and watch behavior.
- Watch for raiders, survivors, if survivor(s) approache site, observe clothing, supplies, weapons, size of group. If they show negative interest, kill as quickly as possible, two ppl go and take supplies, weapons. If they look like they need help, two ppl (with snipers watching over, ready to kill if suvivors appear hostile) ask what they want, dont give them anything, (supplies, info, ect.) watch them leave.
Weeks 4+
- If supplies start getting low, raid nearby houses, hope for supplies/ammo/guns. ( if none found, look for new places on printed out maps from google maps)
If still alive after few months;
- Go back to home neighborhood, raid any houses left, possibly a store or two, hope for new supplies, survivor groups, join any survivor groups that look in good shape, combine supplies, go to which site looks better suited for needs (space, defense, ect) Keep fighting the undead, keep living.
Ok thats it. Any suggestions would be really really helpful so i can make a better one. Any places where i screwed up or anything u guys think i couldve done better or added. :)I will post another one tommorow, a different one.

I like this updated plan, much better than the original... 3 questions though.
How do you plan on preserving food?
How do you plan on purifying water?
If your base is compromised by Zombies or Raiders, do you have an escape plan?
Hopefully with my friends bringing food and water it will increase the supply, and ration it out between however many ppl we have, one can of soup can feed 4 ppl, so about 2-3 cans per day,and water, probably boiling the water from a canal (2 min walk) or bleach or tablets, whatever would be on hand at the time.
And if we got ovrerun, we will always have a week supply of food/water/ammo in the vehicles we brought and hopefully try to make it to those and drive away, or if it doesnt look posssible, hold the site for as long as possible, and go down shooting.
NEVER leave food in your truck raiders will A. Slash your tires, punch a whole in your gas tank and then proceed to take it, steal your ammo, and steal your food. Or B. Take the whole truck...
A can of soup? 4 people? For a day or a meal, either way seems rather unrealistic... Maybe a meal for one person per tin, a day at a push.
Boiling is always more convinient, since you won't run out of wood (if you're placed sensibly). But the smell and light could attract zombs. So safe location is always a must.
Even if you plan to live on soup, you have to consider how does it support your nutritional needs.
Even if it meets your nutritional needs, you'll get tired of it quick. I know right now it doesn't seem like an issue, but when you are on that soup for more then a week, you will hope you never have to eat another bowl of soup, and that becomes a mental issue, and can lower morale.
And then you have to consider how its contents can negatively support you. Soup, being notorious in being high in sodium has large negative outcomes. Heartburn can immediately effect your situation, and then there are a laundry list of things high sodium can do to your cardiovascular health.
Where is your permanent place?
If you hunker down in your loft or w/e for 3 days, it may already be too late to exit the city. Depending on the time that you start hunkering down, your town may have already been overrun, and that's when leaving becomes an issue.
If you plan to go by car, how will you lose the zombies tracking you once you start moving, do you have the proper skills and equipment to repair your car if you hit a zombie too hard, and is the car made to go off road, since the zombies that you will be running over practically makes moving around like an off road trail, and what will you do if you hit a zombie too hard? Moving slowly is out of the question, since you've already alerted 2,000 zombies just by the sound of your car.
If you plan to go by any other mode of transport, you'd probably be too exposed to fend against anything, unless of course you are a skilled horse rider and have horses at hand to escape.
Raiding houses is a no no. It may be better then stores but you are going to settle out into an urban area of you do raid houses. Right then you just put yourself in the middle of many, many zombies, about 2,000 per square mile. Even that is a low estimate. To help you calibrate your senses, imagine if you are in an urban area, that there are about 10 zombies per football field sized piece of land. If you fire your weapon, you've already got 2,000 zombies locked on to your position, and all of them that are mobile, will have reached your area in 20 minutes.
Considering where your permanent position is, you may be up to your knees in zombies.
So reconsider where your starting position is, a position where you are remote enough to scout out the situation, but still legal so if the outbreak is controlled, you aren't jailed up.
Reconsider the way you'll feed yourself. A farm is sustainable, and more reliable then raiding. Know that it takes 10,000 square feet of land to grow more food then you need to sustain one person(using potatoes).
Reconsider where you're permanent place is. I can almost guarantee that if there is a fence, you are already in the wrong place.
I'm going to make a new plan, its gonna be called "my 2nd zombie survival plan." i will hopefully try to solve all the issues pointed out by u guys in the comments.
thanks for the advice guys, u rock. :D
Check out "MY second zombie survival plan" I hope it solved most/some of the problems u guys pointed out on this plan. comment on it if u like it or i couldve done somthing better, ect ect.
Thanks,

People think that the news will just go and say that there is a zombie outbreak. When they do say it, the poop has already hit the fan and hospitals are filling up with infected.
What do you do if your dad doesn't agree with you?
Sure you have 2 weeks of food? About 42lbs of food.
What if the electricity is not on?
What if your cousins are dead or left?
How will you leave your area if the area has already had 2 weeks to let the virus take over the area?
Don't even think about going to stores, that place is going to be saturated with zombies and rotten food.
When you go out to look for supplies, where are you going to look? In a zombie outbreak situation, in 20 minutes, you'll have alerted about 3 sq. miles of zombies if you fire your weapon once, so speed and efficiency is necessary.
This is my first one so i didnt really think it completly through.. and I'll think about it and make a new one later. thanks for the help. :)
And if my dad didnt agree with me then idk i would probably wait it out till i ran out of food.
If my cousin's were dead of left and the power was off then i would carry the stuff up the road where theres an old abandoned barn across a canal with cement barricades blocking the whole side of the canal and along the bridge that crosses it about a 5 min walk.
And theres a few (maybe 20-25) houses on the way to the abandoned barn, would it be smarter to raid those instead of the stores??
Raid those houses, but be carful of zombies inside or around the area, or homeowners that don't want their stuff looted.
But the most important thing is never, NEVER said stores, people could barricade themselves inside and shoot people (zombie or not) to protect what they have, but if that doesn't happen, by the time you get to the store... everything will be cleaned out, there will be nothing but empty shelves.
When everybody learns of the apocalypse there are going to be 3 locaions of interest for EVERYONE.
1. Supermarkets
2. Gas Stations
and 3. Gun Stores.
That is true, haha, read my updated one ( same, just updated tonight, same page thing though) and review please..
