well,I live in a rural area in north Carolina so the isn't many people near me.although there is a gun store,a gas station,a liquor store(which im sure I'll need plenty of when z-day happens),a police station and fire station within about 15-20 minutes of my house.and everyone involved in my survivalist group is about 25 minutes away.im almost sure that these aforementioned places will not be raided before i get there as there is a small number of residence in the area.And I know that otherwise raiding these places would be a huge problem.now,as for how I would be armed until we get to the gun store,I have 2 shotguns at my home,and it's just and my dad so that would suffice for the time being.and everyone in my group have guns as well so it would be at least 1 gun per person.the vehicles involved are a jeep Cherokee,a dodge ram 1500,a Nissan altima,a Honda odyssey and a dodge durango.all in good condition.now as for my safe house,it would be a near-by prison that is nearly completed with 2 fences,guard towers and the whole nine yards.the large (what I think would be called a courtyard) would be a nice place for fruits and vegetables to grow,assuming that the soil can sustain it.and as for my clothing,I would venture out to gander mountain which is a hunting/fishing store.they have many guns,backpacks which have many organized pockets,cantines,at least 10 shitloads of ammo.and much,much more.but anyway back to the clothing,they have hiking boots,thick cargo pants,thick hunting coats,and ammo vests'.and many other hunting accessories.everything listed so far would take about a hour and a half if we act cautiously. what about the supplies you ask?food?water?well,no more that 10 minutes away from the prison is rockingham county highschool,with a big ass freezer full of different things.and yes,I know we wouldn't last long on that very long,but at least long enough to see the 2-3 weeks after the initial outbreak to get an idea of what we're dealing with.if it is like in the movies,where the zombies are slow as hell and everything,then we would possibly go to a food lion or wal-mart to get what little food is left there.and if you reading this im sure your thinking,what specific guns would you be carrying?well,the only sure thing is my 12 gauge and 20 gauge shotguns.whatever guns would be scavenged would not be something I could be specific about.in my group there would initially be 20 people:10 men,5 children and 5 women.and over time we would gradually find survivors,and because it is a prison we would be able to house,and protect them.I think this is a pretty good plan for my specific location.sorry for any grammatical errors and please feel free to submit any constructive criticism.
"nearly completeted" So they're still building the prison? If it's not finished/Occupied, then it's a dam good idea to fo there, since very few people will think of it, and you can use the supplies to reinforce it yourself.
You can't assume that the shops won't be raided just because there are few people around. What about the owners? They're hardly going to let you take whatever you want.
If you wait for your friends before raiding, it'll all be gone.
If you raid whilst waiting for your friends, you'll be swarmed by hordes of other people and leave empty-handed.
The school idea is good, but lots of other people will be thinking it to. If you hit the school whilst everyone else is raiding the other shops, you should be able to get anough supplies quickly.
You can't go find more survivors if you don't have a steady supply of food and water. You didn't mention either.
well,I know that I cant assume that but you cant do anything but assume in a chaotic situation like z-day.and as for the other survivors that we could house,I would pretty much have to play it by ear because there's no way of knowing whats raided and whats no until you get there.unless you have a system set up with other survivors to communicate with each other,but that's highly unlikely unless you have the strongest walkie talkies available.but yea,the prison isn't completely prison finished,but about 80% of everything that needs work is the cafeteria.and I do have a some food stored away in terms of canned food but not substantial enough for everybody to live off of.but the prison itself does have a big freezer so we could use that to our advantage as well.
