My idea is to go to my school which is three stories tall and has a bigger lower level my idea is to set a ladder up to the first tier roof an then from that onto the top of the main school as it is a flat roof with good drainage I would take a tent up there and pull the ladder up after me if people wish to join me I will be on the roof of Tudor grange school I will move the chickens that the school are starting to keep to have the eggs and also some meat if I wanted some :) plus I would make a garden up thier with soil and seeds from the local garden center that I have kept at home I will also move the fencing from the tennish courts to the roof. As I have a rifle licence an in Britain you are not allowed fully auto weapons or semi auto above .22 I will be using my .30 cal straight pull rifle. And keep the playground clear and then after a while secure the whole school grounds. What do you think :) any improvements as they may just save my life.
as others have said before why not find a way to the roof via the interior of the building. and also i think youre limiting yourself as far as space, why not move in on the second and 3rd floors. use the ample materials within the building to barricade yourself. simply throwing a mass of desks to clog the entire stairways would be pretty easy and effective. the garden and chickens is a good idea but it wont be an immediate food source it will take time to grow and getting that amount of supplies will take time and effort, so in the mean time i would focus on raiding the kitchen while your garden grows. also remember youre going to have to feed the chickens in order to get the eggs. you also left out how you are going to get clean water. that is an easy fix, just put buckets on the roof and pray for rain. or hang plastic sheets over your garden with a rock at one spot to bring the sheet to a downward point. place a bucket underneath the point, moisture will naturally evaporate off the plants and collect on the plastic and run down to the point. and the evaporation guarantees it is clean water.
I really don't like the latter idea. and to carry up fencing, chickens, and soil would be a challenge all its own. you should learn how to gain access to the roof the way the people who work there do. there has to be a stair way or some short latter(7 or 8 rungs) on the third that they use to gain roof access.
its good. however, carrying a tent, chickens, and soil and seeds seems a little bit difficult.
Your plan may work but would it be able to sustain you with only poultry and limited vegetation? I believe in a zombie plan where my children will feel safe playing ball in the streets. Read my plan, LA will stand against the horde while providing a comfortable living enviroment for the survivors.

It is fairly good, though chickens? come on. You'd already have enough noise with moaning zombies and now you want squawking chickens? I do like the idea of having plants up there, and the first place i would go is my school, so not too bad ,but I would think it out better.

A bit basic but I think a school is a great location as they are close to residential areas and fortified very well.
I like the idea of having a garden up there :)
