Let's go to prison!Submitted by Grant44086 on Tue, 10/27/2009 - 07:01 |
This is kind of a dark plan so if you have a weak stomach avert your eyes.
Dawn of The Dead Rules: Bites infect you other than that everything is normal.
Grant's one month plan to ensure survival:
Infection arises:
Week 1: Gathering water food and guns.
I've just heard the zombie apocalypse is happening all around me! swell! The first thing I do cash out my savings on water, guns and ammo. (the body can go up to 30 days without food so it's not really a necessity at first) I spend the remainder on food if I have to spend money at all. (looting may have already begun.) I already have a pretty good stash of food but the more I have the better off I will be. I do all of this alone because to be honest I'm not a babysitter and I don't think anybody I know could keep up (sorry family).
"guns that I have acquired."
Tango 51 Tactical Operations Sniper Rifle
2 Sig 357. pistols with high capacity mags
12 ga. single shot sawed off shotgun
Bookoos of ammunition.
Prison:
Week 2: I head out to the local prison, there's one in the city and one outside the city. I'm going to the one outside the city. It doesn't have a huge indoor garage like the one in the city but it has the benefit of not having 500,000 Zombies. It has a nearby prison transfer airstrip complete with nice airplanes too. Hopefully the prison has either been abandoned or the prisoners have been left for dead either way is fine. if it's abandoned I just assume control and if there's prisoners I tell them to kick rocks and if they give me trouble I fire a round into their skull.
Armored Truck:
Week 3: I have assumed control of the prison and I now have a pretty sweet set-up, but I like to go out every once in a while so I need a vehicle that suits my needs. If the prison didn't already have an armored transport, I need to go out and locate one I'm sure in my 4 wheel drive GMC jimmy I wont have a problem mowing down the critters. Locating an armored transport which will probably be tough but I'm sure I'll be able to locate one and either steal it or convince the owner to come along or he goes the way the prisoners went out.
Survival:
Week 4: I plan on operating my prison like a hotel. A safe haven. If I think your too rowdy or your making waves you can kick rocks. I will not tolerate insubordination in my prison. I'll make people pay their way by trading patrol time for rooming. I do not want 1 zombie outside of my prison. I will work up some friendships and bonds between the people so a few of us can work together to keep things in order and go on routine food and water runs.
Relax:
Week 5 - whenever: Hang out and keep patrolling and if all else fails hop into my armored truck or hop into a plane depending on if there's a pilot or not in our midst. and get the hell out.
Anyways I wont trust anybody unless I knew them before the infection started and in that case me casa is su casa. we will survive one way or another. the best plan you can make is the plan after your plan.
The whole plan is pretty fool proof when it comes to zombies, but...
When raiding the prisons, if the convicts haven't been let out for some reason already, asking them to leave and killing them on the spot won't work. Following my stereotypical prison outlook in my mind, there will be way to many of them to question and either execute or exile without them overwhelming you by numbers. Shooting them within their cells won't work because with no way out of their cells and maintaining life within them will be impossible, and a merciful guard or by order will let all the convicts go.
Assuming that whenever you move to the prison, the armored trucks will have been taken either by opportunistic guards, by other people, or they were taken in some way while transporting while in the first few stages of an outbreak.
And when dealing with large amounts of tenants that you might have, they might all revolt, given that in time, the stress of operating such a large facility will turn you "evil" in the eyes of them, and will eventually overwhelm you with numbers.
And last but not least, food runs won't be as fruitful as one will think. You'll have to go in an urban area with many, many undead, going in with a armored truck will either get stuck by mechanical failure, or the overwhelming of zombies to the point that with the truck's oh so limited torque with all that armor and people. And even then, frantic looters will already have taken most of the visual food stuffs.
Probably operate with a small amount of tenants and have a large garden within the prison walls will fix the people problem and the food problem, a large body of water, preferably land locked would work near your prison, to be actively filtered for a steady stream of water.
To rid the convicts, probably horde a small group of zombies through the doors, an explosive, or a large group. The group of zombies might just turn the convicts and not really frighten them to the point that they will escape, and make your job harder, and smellier.
Oh ya, its, "Mi casa es tu casa", My house is your house, I'm not sure if the grammar is right though! :)
just remember that prisons are meant to keep in. try and modify the prison so theres an easy escape route...
thank you guys!
I also was thinking about going to a prison. I always thought if a zombie situation actually happened, the prisoners would be evacuated on buses, leaving the prison itself abandoned. And there would probably be rifles in the watchtower and food reserves- not to mention the serious amount of protection.
Seeing as I have served time in a couple of different facility's and know how good of a fortress they can be. your plan is perfect. All ready in place as in perimeter fencing usually 3 with constantine wire between. And guard towers then if its anything like SDCF in nevada tons of space for growing crops and livestock. if you don't mind I am going to use your plan as my plan b.
LOVE IT!!!
this is a plan that I think is actually pretty realistic. My dad is a sky Marshall that transports convicts across the U.S. and not many people know about this tiny prison.
Once again nit pick and let me know your thoughts. I love to hear others opinions.
