Well First things first...get away from large urban/population centers at the first sign of outbreak. Find a small town, a cabin or a farm somewhere. If you don't you'll be trapped in the mobs, public uprisings and Riots, all desperate to get to the authority figures for salvation. Attempts that will be in vain for the riots they've started will become blood baths and buffets for hungry zombies...eventually they will all walk amongst the dead they were trying to avoid...

Second: Regroup.
This will overlap with step one.Collect Friends you know you can trust and will be useful from you're respective cities and surrounding areas. Unfortunately some sacrifices must be made. People who will just be burdens cannot be tolerated. But gather as many friends and family as you can and find a place to call home for the next week or two. Then...Fortify it!

Third: Survive until the public uprising and panic has literally died.
Now the whole world would be in a state of panic. The worst kind of people would be taking advantage of this to loot stores or just to fuel the mayhem. The cops would be trying desperately and vainly to contain the riots.it would be chaos in the cities so those of us there would have to get out and FAST to avoid it! I think holing up at a cabin somewhere or even in a small town. Anywhere the population would be more sparse. Then just hide there until the first week or two passes. By this time people will have either fled or died. In which case it should be safe to come out and start foraging.

Fourth: Find and manipulate resources.
Well obviously weapons but in order to defend yourself in the first couple of weeks you should've already had some.Don't care where u get'em, just have them! Next We would need something designed for a whole amateur search and rescue Squad. I mean when u got time to kill you might as well make good use of it...soo search for any other survivors. We'd have to find a vehicle like a Semi-Truck capable of have about three trailer/boxes hitched to it. The one on the very end would be for survivor transport. The next one would be like the barracks for our squad. We'd have a couple of bunks in there and all of our weapons and ammo etc. Then the final one, closest to the cab of the truck, would be the food storage. On our way in between towns we'd just steal food from stores along the way. Gas would be openly available because there's gas stations EVERYWHERE and nobody's gonna make us pay for it because they're DEAD.

Fifth: Deploy'n'Survive
Honestly I don't know about you, but once I find somewhere to call "Home base" I'm not just gonna sit there! I'll Go out and find survivors! Avoid Cabin Fever! Make use of myself. We'd Choose a route and make it our circuit. Follow it until we come across survivors. Then we clear the immediate area of all undead threats, get the survivors in the back trailer, raid any stores we can and continue on before another Horde shows up. Continue with our lives that way for a couple or three years until the zombies all decompose to a point where the corpses are useless. Then start life anew.

PS: Me and a group of my friends are already using this. Soo... you're welcome to meet us in Dafoe but be prepared to form you're own squad and take a different convoy on a different route because i think Our squad list is already full. But We'll be more than happy to help you get started. :)
