(I can't be specific about locations or it will easily give away where I live, which isn't too good)
Well, I live on an island, (in puget sound), connecting to a city by two bridges. Surrounded by water and the only access to the island is two bridges, if a zombie outbreak were to occur, the community would most likely to barricade/patrol the bridge or just blow them up so no zombies can ever reach the island. There is a problem, there will be almost no way we enough resources to sustain the people and we'll end up killing and eating each other.
So my plan is:
1. Gather weapons: Close-range: Crowbar, two swords, an axe, gardening hoe, four knives, 5 kitchen knives, and 2 baseball bats. Far-range: 2 pistols, 2 assault rifles, 1 shotgun.
2. Gather armor: Leather trench coat, leather gloves, leather boots, Motorcycle helmet, sunglasses, surgical or dust mask, bandana, and 5 sets of normal casual clothing.
3. Other equipment: First-Aid kit, 3 boxes of can/dry food,3 boxes of bottled water, 3 boxes of ammo, running shoes, hats, radio, batteries, flint, lighter, and steel.
4. Put it all on my pickup truck. My brother/sister/parents would also use a pickup truck to gather resources/weapons. (my uncle owns a construction company so we have access to lots of pickup trucks.)
5. Call some of my friends to meet me at a certain park by the bridge. (Some of my friends don't agree and believe costco/walmart is the way to go even though that's what 1000's of other people also think and it'll become way to crowded. There are 2 costco's, 2 walmart's in the city of over 300,000 people and an island of 20,000 people use it too.)It will be a group of 10 - 20 people.
6. We'll then go to the harbor of the city take a ferry (20 minutes) to a different island that we know is very sustainable and have been to. (Over 600 kids/100 adults go every year to it for a field trip) Very green, everything is grown, wildlife/animals we can hunt, plenty of trees, and the only way to get there, is by BOAT or plane (zombies are PROBABLY not going to be flying planes so no worries about that). If we can't get on a ferry because transportations are being closed down, then my friend owns a boat we can load up and that just ride there (may take 20 minutes more but oh well.)
7. Take over: We'll begin to head over the lodge which no one SHOULD be at because people aren't usually working for money during a zombie outbreak, but if there is than we either talk it out and have them join our side, kill them on the spot, or tie them to a tree as bait if zombies infects a boat of people heading to us. After clearing the area, we'll have someone scouting the harbor for anymore boats coming. Since only access to the island is by boat, only about 30 - 100 zombies can come at a time. No super huge mega killer giant mob. (something we can handle)
8. Set traps/make bombs: My friends know how to make actual explosives/smoke bombs and traps. We would set that around the harbor.
9. Fortify the lodge: Start cutting trees and enforcing the walls.
10. Build a tree house near the lodge in case if we actually get owned by either raiders/zombies. We can snipe and shoot at the zombies from a higher point. (last resort area when lodge gets taken over)
11. Chill/wait/relax/grow stuff/get water
12. Other people visiting either help us or become bait.
If the plan just doesn't work in the beginning: Head for one of the mountain to another lodge (freezing cold)
