guns

all you need is a pump action 9mm rim fire http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/rimfire/model-572/model-572-b...

because you get 5-10 9mm shells next to one shot gun round (space wise). you also need a blunt weapon like a bat, something that will slide out of a skull unlike an axe which would get stuck in the scull and no noise

And an Axe can cave in a skull or go straight into the brain, messing it up too badly for the Solanum to survive. And a bat increases your chance for blood splatter infection: a sharp axe goes in, comes out cleanly. A bat send pieces flying everywhere (if you hit with enough strength to break the skull).

With any blunt object it will cause splatter and a face shield that scientists use but a war scythe would be best because you chop the head off/ sever the spine and you have more ways to remove the blade if it gets stuck rather than the axe where you get it out where you put it in. war sycthe is best

Why small groups are better

Going out during a zombie outbreak alone is not a good idea. You want a small group of people 4-5 to help you find and carry important equipment, food, and weapons.
Have one man as a breacher equipped with a shotgun, 9mm, and breaching equipment. (Home made plastic explosive, pry bar, axe...)
Next have two men with assault rifles (or hunting rifles).
Then have one man as a heavy support element, so give him the fastest firing weapon you can find weather it would be a LMG, APMG, or even a semi auto rifle if nothing else is avalible...
If you have five people then have the last one carrying a 9 mm and the heavy support elements ammunition.
Also make sure you have a few ruc sacks or larger backpacks that can store equipment and food. The man without a backpack will be the runner who will have the job of scouting out areas in front (in a building this is not needed)

Remember that the more poeple you have the easier it is to be spotted and harder it is to keep track of where everyone is... Its harder to stay as a group when you have so many people.

Realistically, you want as large of a group as you can support. If you give every person a single shot or semi-automatic rifle and train them to go for headshots, you'll be fine. More people=more work that can be achieved, but you'll also need more food, so a balance is essential.

Really, an LMG is only useful if you're against a massive horde of zombies, like say a few hundred. And even then, you just mow away at leg level, because you're not going to be able to get headshots on a moving, multi-heighted swarm. And LMGs are loud and heavy, so not really a great idea.
I'd suggest groups of 6-8 (per party) using rifles with about 20-30 shots each, with (if you're in Britain) a shotgun (if you can get one- sawn offs are preferable for their manueveablity, but also illegal), and if you're American, a small calibre pistol, powerful enough to break through the skull once and bounce around inside. But if you're close enough to warrant its use, you want protection from the blood, so cover all open wounds, your mouth, eyes (as much as possible without damaging your visibility) and your nose.

Sanity-wise, I don't think I

Sanity-wise, I don't think I could make it "Chuck Norris style."

Capn774- more badass than going back in time and kissing your own mother at the "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance... wait a second, that's not badass! That's just plain weird!

Actually, no. You're 30% more

Actually, no. You're 30% more likely to end up talking to a volleyball. It's a fact.

Seriously, though, you can only go 3 months without human contact before your brain decides that you can make friends (and enemies) with inanimate objects.
