Personally, I think people will know how to deal with zombies, and some will stand a better chance than in movies because of this.

However, seeing a zombie movie or two isn't enough to give people the strength required to break a human skull with something they've picked up in the heat of the moment.

I also think some people will be morally against killing zombies, or will not have the mentality to make a kill.

So, all things considered, some individuals may be alright, but an infection will probably still spread like in the movies.

oh my opinion now on the question

ok first off it seems always in the movies that it takes place in one of three ways that the survivers are introducted into the problems and zombie infestation at hand

1st they are there hwen the virus or whatever it is is "released" ect and all that. Exaple would be Diary of the Dead by George A Romaro or Dawn of the Dead
2nd they wake up emurge or just like POP into the middle of the cauis when the incodent is funrmly out of control Walking Dead or Zombieland
3rd after total ditrution and domination of the infected is established and a suevival mentality is already intogreated as a type of societ The Third Resident Evil and many others

now yes in the movies the people always seen to be unprepared and incodents and ect seem to lead to there death and all that. Well in a way this is exsagorated but not as greatly as we would think
Many people willnot know what to do in great detail and thought even if they have an slight idea of natural servival
Panic and Stress will lead to the Flight effect and death in the sence hearding will happen virus will take hold and all that. Now i think people in real life people such as us belevie we have knowlege on what to do and that we will have a greater chance to survive then people in movies cause we "inderstand" But in harsh reality we have no idea how we are going to react
also the reactions of people and survival rate will differ with different regions and coultures
think uptown people with no knowlege of any survival will be like children in a incodent such as zombies where people that grew up not papered and had to work ect will thrive more

the satictics that go with this question could have a conversation go on for DAYS

Simpily my answer to the question is that yes it would be as bad in some senses and in othere not

Here is a bit of a convo I had with a friend, does it sound right? Since most movies seem to skip over how it all happens this is a little insight that I think, but it may not be correct. :) We were talking about instant turn zeds, not ones with long incubation periods.

Me- if it were a normal zed infection with an instant infectious bite the military and government would be okay. Highly infectious diseases have brought upon drill of all kinds for decades, since the Influenza pandemic, governments around the world have been building and devising plans to deal with wide spread disease. And except in those third wold countries, they have worked. The only difference in a zed infection and say, a E-bola infection is that the zeds are still living, at which point it becomes a war, Quarentine efforts are highly effective around the United States and Canada. We have the man power and resources to effectively dismiss any normal zed infection. The only problems would come from citizens. The government and all it;s branches are currently well equipped to deal with the zeds, but not with an entire unprising country. If the populace places trust in the government efforts, then things will be okay.

Friend- Alright. I see what youre saying. But theres not much we can do about an uprising. I mean, if there is one, we really are screwed. But that is a real possibility. With dealing with the humans and infected, that makes things exponentially worse. I doubt we can control the country from turning against the government. So what happens then?

Friend- You kill them all. Or cure them. But if the military can quarantine as easily as you suggest, then what is there to worry about?

Me- I'm gettign there. But yes, you kill them!
Now, the quarantine is going well, to kill zombies you well... kill them. Those zeds use to be people, peopel with families. the populace sees the military killing other people. The think we can cure them when in reality we can not. The citizens become upset at such drastic action when all the government is doing is protecting the rest of the country. Riots pop up all over the place and that is what brings down the organization. Following me?

Me- The true apocalypse will come about not of the zeds, but of the citizens' reactions to the governments actions thinking them cruel when in fact they are needed. So in any case if all goes as it has for the past couple thousand years... we will be left to fend for ourselves and I hope you are with our little clan. :D
