I am personally looking into purchasing a s-10 gas mask along with a balaclava. Gas mask inorder to prevent bodily fluids entering eye infecting me also balaclava to prevent biting on the neck.
What do you plan on wearing for protection
Goggles from a chemistry kit (specifically designed to keep fluids out) for my eyes, and a ski mask (balaclava). I'll wear a leather jacket with the collar popped up to protect against neck bites (it's a long collar), plus some thick denim cargo pants. I've got leather gloves for finger protection, but they're a little too thick making them a bit clumsy.

I'd like to have a Mitznefet(http://www.civiliangunner.com/IDFnewbie/images/mitznefet_new1.jpg)
as a part of my survival headgear. It is what the Israeli army uses to break the distinctive outline of the head and assist in camouflage. A scarf around the face would be good to prevent fluids from entering the mouth or nose.
i would wear a padded helmet than for a neck protection a scarf... no that would get me killed. what i would wear in my perspective would be motorcycle helmet (with vizor) and have Monster Energy Drink on the helmet and for neck protection.... there is no zombie getting past me!!
or with the words ZAIO! for (the Zombie Apocalypse Is Over!)
I would wear... A propeller cap!
No, really I will probably try to find a hard hat in my dad's work room. Good bite protection.
if a zombie gets that close to you, youre a goner anyways, ill just take my chances and keep them as far back as possible while killing them. i guess i could adorne myself in medievel armor but that doesnt seem very functional
I agree, would you actually WANT a zombie close enough to bite you? i'd be more worried about keeping them away from me..but, in the instance that one did get close enough, rubber is your friend..like make somekind of crazyness from a car tire and try to bite through that.
Kevlar balaclava and a PSGT helmet.
Screw HeadGear.. too uncomfortable..
of course a helmet while i'm riding.. but i'll not have anything limiting my movements or vison while trying too take out Zeds..
how needs head gear thats really not going to help much
I got a black DVS hat and some pretty cool shades, otherwise, im screwed. but meh, shit happens, yeah?
lol, I have a poster about "shit happens", lol. for example:
Satanism: sneppah tihs
Dogs: Cats are shit
Cats: Dogs are shit
Mice: Oh shit! A cat!
Televangelism: Give us money or shit will happen to you
Voodoo: We make shit happen
I actually don't plan on wearing any headwear... If you slip up and it's going to bite you, you're screwed.
im gonna raid a kevlar manufacturing plant, and make a fully body armor suit, that has a special covering to make my Israeli gas mask bullet proof
At least your thinking a little bit deeper then most. I too shall not bother with headgear. When you're that close it's kill or be killed, regardless of who has the cooler hat.
Okay, maybe one of those beer hats but that would be it.
I could go for a propeller cap. Or samurai helmet.
Justin you could put a propeler on you samurai helmet now that'd be sweet.
Freaking genius! Man, that just made my day. I need to see a picture of a samurai helmet with a propeller cap on it...
Dude, seriously, you have no idea how awesome that sounded, and how embarrassed I am that I didn't think of that first.
Yeah i was kinda suprised my self but i do what i can to help.
this is the shit i would wear.
Here is my battlehat.
I've found out recently that REAL gas masks are really hard to breath through. Like, running would be extremely tough so you might want to consider that. Plus, there's a filter on the mask that you need to replace every so often so you'd need to carry extras. :/
And I used to wear a bandana over my face a lot when I was younger, I'll tell you right now, if it's hot outside you're going to be sucking your own hot stale breath.
Personally I wouldn't wear anything except for sunglasses occasionally because I wouldn't want my aiming obscured by anything.

My gas mask is rather easy to breath through. I plugged in one of the filters to see how it is with it on, and it wasn't TOO bad... Although I imagine if it was hot outside it would be significantly more difficult to breath.
Carrying spare filters shouldn't give you too much crap, they aren't very heavy and you don't have to change them out for a day or so.
I never had any trouble breathing through my SCBA mask, even when using a filter attachment instead of canned air. Hell, if we run out of air in a hazardous environment we're supposed to take off one of our gloves and breath through that.
Yeah, when you are dealing with a dangerous-to-inhale environment, the only thing you need is a fabric that is porous enough to let natural air in, but small enough to keep the larger, dangerous chemicals and particles out. Usually, a bandanna can do the trick. Although, just to play it safe, you will DEFINITELY want a gas mask when dealing with any form of biological attack or widespread airborne infection.
Your average gas mask is made from HEPA filter cloth and charcoal powder anyway, not that hard to come by, you can actually refill your own gas mask filters with stuff from the Home Depot. Though military grade ones are made of sterner stuff.
I'd be more concerned with arm and leg bites. Something like this would be a lot more handy to me!
I mean seriously- look in the description! What about this doesn't scream "zombie-proof"?! lol, it even says "Bloodborne pathogens protective"!!! SWEET
Jesus, you guys are all a bunch of sissies.... this is what I would be wearing.

Pssh... ALIVE sissies!!!
True, but when you can't die, it doesn't matter.

HAHA! I thought that's what it was!
omg! A forum about clothes!! ...kinda
Anyway, no head wear for me. Just my fave army camo hat.
I swear it's a life saver when I'm in a hurry.
It might save my life in the event of a dangerous situation
when I want to primp my hair or make-up but realistically don't have enough time.
I got it from Earth Traders or Earth Savers. (something like that, it's in the mall)
Honestly they arent going to be clubing you they are going to be trying to rip into your skull a helmet might be bite proof but if they are close enough to bight your helmet you have probably already lost your fight, plus thats just one more thing for them to grip onto and pull you down or to them for a bite. the best thing would be to keep your hair short or if you insist on keeping it long, stuff it into a beanie that way if they do get a hand on your head all they take away is your fav sock hat instead of a handfull of hair/scalp. i do agree with the eye protection concept because of all the possible splatter, although chem goggles for me would be a bit much id just go with some safety glasses and call it a day because again if they grab them they pull them off not your head
