Egyptian army holds powers from government
President Hosni Mubarak resigned in Egypt, as outlined by Al Jazeera. This is just what the people, protesting for weeks, wanted. There was a speech distributed by Mubarak Thursday that worried protestors that he would never be willing to leave causing force of it. However, the next morning his resignation was announced. Vice President Omar Suleiman, to whom Mubarak had transferred many of his powers as president, made the announcement on Friday morning that Mubarak had resigned as president and handed the reins of Egypt over to the Supreme Council, the governing body of the Egyptian military.

There were confirmations that Cairo was no longer where Mubarak and his family resigned before the Vice President Omar Suleiman announcement. Military airport took Mubarak away. Now, he is on the coast of the Red Sea within the Sinai Peninsula in Sharm el-Sheikh. Mubarak and his family have a vacation estate there. Mubarak had made some concessions to protesters, however they failed to appease them, and he seemed determined not to resign. The figure that stood as part of the opposition to Mubarak was Mohamed El-Baradei. He said it was “the greatest say in my life” when Mubarak resigned when Egypt has been “liberated after decades of repression” now, MSNBC reports.
Military desires orderly transition to new government
The majority of the Egyptian army hoped that everyone would stay calm and orderly. This was indicated. ABC reports that the military prepared on repealing the emergency powers law that makes it so the federal government gets power in times of crisis. The laws were passed after the assassination of Anwar Sadat, whom Mubarak succeeded. Numerous in Tahrir Square, or Liberation Square, are being really joyous. The anger that Mubarak was being defiant is now gone.
