Covered ApproachSubmitted by Silentfox on Mon, 03/21/2011 - 12:48 |
One day I'm sitting in math class listening to the daily lecture. Suddenly, a voice comes over the intercom. It tells all the students to head to the theater for an emergency assembly. We all get up to go and as I walk through the packed hallways towards the exit, I notice that theirs something wrong. Many of the adults(teachers, other facility, and deans)look incredibly on edge. Over the last few months there have been reports on the news of strange murders and assaults, some even of cannibalism. I have recognized the tell tale signs of a growing zombie takeover, but I have held my tongue on the matter due to the risk of being labeled crazy by my parents and peers. Nonetheless, I have been able to build up an arsenal of suitable weapons and supplies to sustain me until I am able to put my plan into action, so I am not completely unprepared. I know that there are others at the school who are prepared for this situation as well, notably the two outdoor education instructors Gunk and Derry. I decide not to go to the assembly after all, and head over to Gunk's house on campus instead. Luckily, he is at home and Derry is already there with him. They and there families appear ready for travel. I know there young children could severely hamper our survival, but there is no way any of us would consider leaving them behind. We briefly consider our options and I convince them to head to Schafer Cliffs. They load the necessary gear, including climbing equipment, camping equipment and a pair of Remington .223 rifles(not:this is all stuff they have at their houses). All of my gear is stowed at my dad's house so we stop by there next. My sister, who goes to the same school, also skipped out on the assembly and came here. I explain the situation to my parents and sister and collect my supplies. These consist of a machete, a Kukri, my crossbow/handbow, and non-perishable food. Thus prepared, the plan will be put into action. My town is small and pretty far from any large population centers. This would give me time to do all the things leading up to this time. So, thus prepared, we mount up in our two four wheel drive vehicles and head towards previously mentioned Schafer Cliffs. This area is well suited for camping and defense because of it's single direction approach and availability of materials for building such as trees and stones. The journey there would be potentially dangerous but also rather brief. It is unlikely that the roads would be clogged up because the cliffs are pretty remote and you take back roads to get there. If we ran into any trouble with Zed on the way, we should be able to to kill them with are weapons. Once there, we would set up camp near the edge of the cliff and set up repelling lines for a quick escape. (This is obviously not complete, I will finish it at a later date, sorry if you have wasted your time reading this so far, but it will improve)
Have you considered multiple situations that could occur when the school is put on alert? Its unlikely the school would assemble everyone into a small area, and more likely the local police, if not the military would be there to start evacuating, not trying to keep people in a single, unforitified position. Granted, no one knows for sure what will happen, but does your plan have some sort of flexibility as to how you find out the apocalypse is happening?
Do you have any other means of escape from your one way in, one way out hideout? Have you already spoken with Gunk and Derry to see if you can count on them to follow along with your plan when the time comes?
This plan turned out more like a story than a plan. I don't really have much time for it. My instructors are very into zombie apocalypse planning. It is quite possible that they would go along with my plan. This plan is almost entirely circumstantial. I would like to scrap it and start fresh. Sorry for the ordeal of reading it.

Well then what you can do is when you do have time, edit the whole thing, start all over. I'm on this site pretty often so I'm sure I'll see that you've updated it and edit my first response accordingly. I'm just trying to help make sure you cover all your bases. Maybe you should tell them about the site, help you with your plan.
