Cabin Fever

This is the plan I have, if noone is here with me.
The moment i find out that zombies are on the loose, I will get into my vanagon, after stocking it with all the water and food i can, i will drive down to PA. There are camp sites with big cabins. Campsites have lots and lots of trees, and lakes with fish, lots of fish. The cabins are not nearly as strong as they have to be. (im sorry, lets back up for a moment) On the drive to the campsite (back roads, and off road if possible, did i mention my vw is a synchro, which means 4x4, everyone will try taking throughways and highways and get into traffic, and be eaten by zombies and turned themselves, into the flesh eating beasts), The objective is to collect tools, now since camping is in my nature, i already have propane camping stoves, which can also be used with wood, if propane is not available. Also in my arsenal is a metal baseball bat, and a pistol, with about 35 clips full with ammunition, thats 280 shots. With lighters, and matchbooks, and the old flint and tinder, fire is not to hard to come by. Now, on the road, there are shops and stores that most likely have been raided by others, so when stopping to see what is left, i must remember, "what if someone takes my gear, and transportation" so i always stay close, drive into the store if possible. Now, while searching various stores, i watch out for anything that might be useful, (mind you, a vanagon has 200 cubic feet of storage, more in mine because of lack of rear seats, also a trailer with another 200 cubic feet of storage is attached) besides collecting canned goods and water, collect tools. Hammers, Nails, screw drivers and screws, saws, hand drills, take it all. I also realize that i will need wrenches and wire cutters too, for when i take the van apart for wires that can be used like rope, and bolts for supporting various things. now, this is country, which means fishing stores and hunting stores. I would go to hunting stores first, because they have fishing supplies also. The first things i would take is any knives, and guns in stock, with ammo, after taking that, i would go for fishing supplies. Fishing supplies will be very handy in collecting food. I will take maybe 5-10 fishing poles, all the spools of fishing line there are, because it can also be used for other tasks like setting traps, or tieing things together. I will also take tackles and fake bait. Tackles can be used for storage. (now back to the campsite) Once i arrive at the campsite (its only a 2 hour drive on highway, and 4 hours on back roads) I will pick 1 of three cabins i like, The 1st one is the biggest, and sturdiest, but has limited trees around and the rover is a 15 minute walk away, the 2nd Is just as big but is in a large clearing, which means limited trees within a 10 minute walk, the 3rd cabin, which i beleive will be the one i choose, is a little smaller, and not as sturdy, but the pluses are, it is right on the river, which gets to about 12 feet deep, good luck zombies, and it is in the most wooded part in the site. This lets me do 2 things, get wood, and get food. Because it is the most dense wooded areas there, their will be deer, and possible bears. Now, for campsite set up (using the cabin i just explained) The area around the cabin, has lots of trees, so i would cut them down, using the saws and axes i collected on the way down, I would then cut peices to long enough to reach from top of cabin the the ground, and nail them into place, i would do this on the outside to make the cabin virtually indestructable. Ever see a zombie cut through half a foot of pure tree? i dont think so. (by the way, all supplies would be loaded into cabin the moment i had arrived) after making the cabin indestructable, i would cut more trees and log them, fire wood would be #2 on my list to do. So, i have firewood, an indestructable cabin, and a all my things loaded into the cabin, whats next? Set up your weapons inside, near the three windows, put a pistol, and ammo and the rest put in a closet. Next i would Set up all of the 5-10 fishing polls, (so they will stand by themselves) and check them every hour or so. I would also set up a holding net into the water, so any fish i catch i can put into the net, and have for days to come. I would make a small room out of logs for a fire pit, the logs would be set in a way so that, like the cabin, they are indestructable. the top would be taller than me, 6'1, and roofless, so the flames do not start a fire. Rocks will make the pit, and the camp grill will be set atop the flames for cooking.
So, food is set, the cabin is as safe as a vault, what about water? The water i have got will last maybe 2 months, if rationed maybe 3 months. The river is fresh water, but not pure. You see, in any campers arsenal is a big pot, i have 3. To purify the water for drinking, you boil it, and boil it, and boil it again. And now i have water taken care of. So food, water and a place to stay that is safe. Now fishing line is strong, but not strong enough. If you take 3 peices , each say 10 feet long, and string them together, you will have an 8 foot peice of string, strong enough to hold my weight (240 lbs). I will take lots of strings like that, and make fence posts out of 2 inch diameter wood, and create a barricade again'st zombies. the fenses only weakness is sharp things, like zombie teeth. So to keep them back even more, i will put staffs facing outward through the fencing to stop them from getting close to it.
What i have created with A simple cabin is a strong hold, Zombies cannot swim( lac, of coordination) and zombies cannot climb, again for same reason. Zombies Cannot figure out how to get through a fence, or over razer sharp stakes, they will just hit them, and over time, a barrier of dead zombies (stuck on the stake, and killed by a shot to the head, or bash to the head) will keep the live( how funny, live zombies> i thught they were dead...) zombies farther back. So water on one, and zombie barrier on sides and back. But what about the sides in shallow water areas, they can walk in shallow water around the barriers. Well as i cut down trees, i also cut wood to make a dam, but not a full damn, just to the point where the water starts to get deep, so any zombie that tries to make it over, falls into deep water, and the current pushes them away.
:) I do beleive this is a win!

not actually dam

im not actually damming the river, i am putting the log in far enough to the point where a zombie wont be able to get through. also, in the case of the river, the chances of it over flowing are slim, as it has never happened. and another camper??? i doubt it. and if so, there are other cabins with which i can accomodate. as for the vehicle getting stolen, yes that is a possibility, this plan runs off the fact that it does not get stolen, in the case of it getting stolen, there are always other vehicles, other ways to get from a to b. But if it did happen, my plan would need to take a tremendous turn around.

Ahem.

I prefered your original plan, because travelling is dangerous, as is raiding. What if there's someone in the hunting store, trying to hold out and not caring whether they shoot zombies or people?
What if your car gets stolen?
What if someone else is at the campsite, especially if they're violent.

I'd suggest starting to farm in the area you deforest too, just to bolster food production and keep your diet varied.
And damming a river is dangerous, what if there's a flash flood upstream and it washes away the dam, and potentially your cabin?
