I hope you get to be a ranger, I heard that it is really hard to pass those kind of standards, not my kind of stuff, I just liked being a engineer.
Keep a good clean record and graduate from highschool because they are tightening up on entrance standards.
yeah i know only 1/3 of rangers pass the qualification camp.

Back before the Iraq war and the huge increase in the army it was actually somewhat of a challenge to pass BCT, we had a 10-15 dropout/recycle rate in our company for each of the 4 platoons. But then the army needed every body it could get their hands on and the standards went to crap and everyone started passing BCT.
yeah i heard about that now they are starting to get them back to regulation

compulsory education stops at 16, then your choices are work, sixthform to do A-levels and usually progress onto university, a modern apprenticeship, or college, which is more or less a more hands on sixthform.
You can join the army at 16, or do 2 years of A-levels to join as an officer.
GCSEs allow you to do most typical jobs, Alevels and college courses let you do more complicated/higher paying jobs, and bachelor's degrees from universities allow you to do professional jobs.

I see that is very different compared to the US.
I was in highschool up to and for a time while I was 18. However I got to join the national guard when I was 17. I didnt know you could join that young in the UK.
You need parental permission to join before 18.
Same here, had to have my mom sign several documents before I was officially in.
Im going to ROTC in fort benning when im seveteen then go to advanced the following summer then after that go to ranger school
