leather biker pants, jacket and double layer/ 2 pairs of leather gloves. with full helmet with face shield will weigh about 15 lbs. Good for clearing a house or going through a questionable place or strange sounds.

carharts, seatshirts, leather gloves should do the trick and let you remain mobile.

yeah throw some BDUs on, cant bite through those, they're light throw on some combat boots, nike make some good ones very light, stay away from underarmor they are shitty and bates make some good light boots now as well. fuck helmets an big googles, get a nice pair of balistic with the foam around the out side, it keeps sand out so i dont see it letting much in ya no. you dont need much else i mean come on if you are smart you dont get your self into situations that you need any thing more then that if you do your a dumb ass. right? right.
People are saying you'd be dumb to get yourself that close, but in a place like England not many of us have guns at our disposal and even melee weapons can be limited. I doubt it's just me who'd want to kill any Zombie they saw so what other options do I have?
body armour is for when the shit hits the fan or say your walking in a house and a z is in a room and you open the room's door and you don't expect it, run low on ammo or get swamped by a big group.
no one is saying get close to a z but in some cases it won't be your choice on how close they get ex, house or big group of z's rushing you.
Zombs are more likely to bite onto extended limbs. Keep your arms in close (preferably with a weapon in them), and keep light clothing on so you can move faster. The weight (and the slowing and extra exertion thereof) probably outweighs any protection.
When did you last see a Zombie movie (although not always accurate) where they lunged for the chest? Fingerless gloves to protect hands, strong overshirt, jeans (denim is incredibly strong- for a fabric) and shoes should be all you need. And if you get bitten in a finger, you might have enough time to cut it off to prevent the spread. Desperate, yes. But perhaps necessary.
If you're bitten on the face or neck, you're pretty much gone.

I can make the argument in nam where the American fighter jets did not have a gun because they could shoot down migs with their missiles. once they did this and they began to fight they discovered that when dog fighting they could not always fire bec, they where to close, jungle heat & humidity messing up the missile or they shot all missiles but they wanted the guns because other than a jammed gun or out of rounds it just point and shoot or something that could get close and get a kill where the missile could not.
same thing with the bayonet, you could carry an extra mag in place of it but unlike the bullet the bayonet can be used more than once plus it can be used in other ways than just a bayonet unlike a bullet good for one thing and one shot.
if you where attacked by zombies and it got to your pick axe where if you got a close hand to head weapon then you would want that added protection of splatter and biting, or just one loan z and rather than wasting a shot on a fixed amount of ammo on something 2 people can go an bash in the scull. If you shoot it you would need to get more ammo or supplies from other towns then when going into a possibly z infected building, then a leather jacket, gloves and pants over regular cloths can prevent a infection, but even if it did not come to the armour saving you it is well worth having.
ARMING YOURSELF WITH MORE THAN SKIN OF MOUNTAIN GOAT IS SIGN OF LACKING SOMETHING MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN ARMOR.

the z's bite you feet or swarm horse, horse buck like crazy you get bit/ eaten. and zombie handbook states animals run from z's and horses will spooke and will buck and run from z's so not good idea.horses can't go over some rocks and in deep mud. plus the nays

Bayonets are a mied bag really, they'll keep the zombies away, but you need them to be away anyways...
So I'd discount them as your 'main' physical weapon, stick to something short.

bayonet is good for clearing a house just one gab into the eye socet and a quick twist to make it easy to pull out.
it has low splater and noise, can use until it brakes.
Same as all other bladed weapons. But they don't have the disadvantage of a massive block of wood being behind them. I'd rather use a knife, where you can defend yourself from closer zombies, but also have to place yourself closer.
use of a knife to the brain would entail putting your hand in close proximity to the zombie's head (thats where the mouth is... just FYI). plus, if you have a bayonet on a rifle, you have a weapon with more mass, and therefor, a stronger impact. knives should only be used as a last resort. a bayonet gives you range and options. and if you have ever had any training with using knives, you would know how difficult it is to stab high on your enemy. trust me... im not gonna give out any details, but i have had to stab someone to save my life, so believe me when i say, the more distance, the better
