if it was me, id put a hell of a lot of music, information and maps on the harddrive the info would consist of geographical info and the basic survival guides and info on how to build machenery and structures like houses bunkers and strongholds.
id try to download google maps to the device to give a good map layout and id also use navy charts aswell as militry maps, id also try put a detailde account of human life befor the appocalips.

Okay, I'm gonna budget things a bit. I would have about 30 gigs of Music, about 3-5 gigs of geographic data as well as a program to read it(1-2 gigs), 10 gigs misc, 10 gigs devoted to entertainment, 20 gigs to translator and multiple copies of Rosetta stone in various languages, an operating system for the computer I'm using and lastly an E-copy of every how to manual or video I can find including schematics for common mechanical devices and shop manuals for all the more common vehicles.

You do know a terabyte is 1,000 gb right? just making sure you no you can hold alot more, youtube has only 6 terabytes.
yeah I know, I just haven't figured out what to do with the rest of it. When I said I was budgeting, I meant I was showing a rough breakdown of what would be on the hard drive.
O ok. The rest of mine will be filled with survival and building how toos, as well as blue prints. And stuff to learn building and arcutecture.
Yeah so I'd have all of that survival crap. But what everyone really wants to know is all of the fun stuff:
-Every season of The Office, Seinfeld, Family Guy, Psych, Friends, SNL, and South Park (more to be added later)

Well hopefully you wouldn't lose it where something like that could happen. If that were the only one of its kind left, that alone would preserve the American culture and life back in the 21st century.

Well it could be, it's your preference. If it were me, I'd use a portable hardrive that connects via firewire 800 port for quick downloading.
Just picture the movie "The Book of Eli", but instead of a Bible (atleast I think it is), it's a hardrive. That's how valuable it'd be during the apocalypse/post-apocalypse.

The complete history of the world as far as we know, as much of science as possible, accurate maps, schematics for some of the more general machines we rely on (engine etc), and then some of humanities great cultural achievements.
My hard drive would do great, bunch of survival crap on it and general infographics crap. I could list it all but I would really rather not, plus a virus ate like 1/4 of all my pics and I haven't sorted through what crap I still have.
